Where Are They Now? RTS Charlotte Alumnus Jordan Olshefski

While God sends RTS Charlotte grads all over the world, sometimes he calls them to stay right here in Charlotte.  When he does so, it gives us a chance to watch their ministries grow and develop in our own city.

This is the case with the next individual in the Where Are They Now? series: Jordan Olshefski.  Jordan was my TA at the seminary and also my intern at my church (Uptown PCA)–duties which he (incredibly) upheld at the same time.  It has been a blessing having him stay around.

Jordan gets the award for the most thorough answers (so far) to the interview questions (which is no surprise if …

Where Are They Now? RTS Charlotte Alumnus Matt Miller

Over the last 20 years, RTS Charlotte has been pleased to develop a great relationship with the Associate Reformed Presbyterian (ARP) denomination.   While we serve many different denominations (over 40 different ones), and while the PCA is still our largest constituency, there is a special regional connection with the ARP in the Carolinas.

This relationship will only get stronger, we pray, with the newly announced Glenwood ARP Scholarship here at the Charlotte campus.  This scholarship provides full tuition for 3 years for qualified ARP students who are in the M.Div. program.  Although the application process for these scholarships is competitive, we encourage people to apply. For more info, see here

Where Are They Now? RTS Charlotte Alumna Connice Dyar

One of the fastest growing areas of ministry in the United States today is sports chaplaincy.  Not only do most major sports teams have chaplains, but now even college and some high school programs have chaplains.  These chaplains have unprecedented access to these athletes who will be future leaders and (inevitably) influencers of American culture.

Connice Dyar (RTS Charlotte class of 2007) is on the …

Where Are They Now? RTS Charlotte Alumnus Phil Davis

Why would a seminary graduate, with a young family, want to move overseas and start a church in the “most atheistic city in the world”?  Certainly this is not the normal next step for the average American seminary student who typically envisions ministry in an established suburban church in a Bible-belt city.

But, this was the next step for RTS Charlotte alumnus Phil Davis (class of 2003) who moved his family to Prague, Czech Republic to start a new church.  And now they have a thriving ministry in this beautiful European city (and home of 14th century Reformer Jan Hus).  In addition, they have been joined in recent years …

Where Are They Now? RTS Charlotte Alumnus Matt Howell

Last week I mentioned that I am starting a new series of blog interviews entitled Where Are They Now?, highlighting some of our alumni over the years.  I ask each alumnus a series of questions that show how God is at work in their lives and in their ministries (for the prior installment see here).

This installment will focus on Matt Howell (class of 2oo9), RUF minister at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville), and formerly RUF minister at Appalachian State.  During his time in Charlotte, Matt was my teaching assistant and did a fantastic job (he also wrote a hilarious song about me for the senior banquet, but …
