Well, it’s New Year’s Eve. And I would imagine that most of us are more than ready to get 2020 in the rear-view mirror. After a year of political in-fighting, unexpected pandemics, and never-ending social distancing, we are all ready for a fresh start.

RTS Announces Spring 2021 Course Offerings
As we wrap up the lamentable year that was 2020, there are hopeful things to look forward to in 2021. One of those things is the wonderful slate of in-person, course offerings for the Spring 2021 term across all the campuses of Reformed Theological Seminary.
That’s right, we are pressing on with in-person, residential education. While our traditional slate of distance education offerings classes will continue to be available, and while we are offering some remote live courses, the bulk of our courses this Spring will be face-to-face.

Seminary Wives: You Are Not Wasting Your Lives
Every year I see a new crop of seminary students, eager to jump into their studies and to prepare for ministry. But, behind the scenes, there is another story that often goes untold. The story of the seminary wives.
Of course, I recognize that there are also seminary husbands, but there is a unique challenge for seminary wives as they sometimes struggle to find their own calling in the midst of their husband’s pursuit of ministry.

Is It a Waste of Time for Seminary Students (and Pastors) to Learn the Biblical Languages?
It’s that time of year again.
Even in the middle of a COVID-19 world, a new crop of seminary students here at RTS-Charlotte has already begun the grueling month-long experience of Summer Greek. And, like all seminary students before them, they will begin to ask the question of why studying these ancient languages even matters. After all, a few years after graduation all will be forgotten. In the midst of a busy pastoral life, who could possibly maintain proficiency in the languages?

@RTSCharlotte Hires New Professor of Biblical Counseling
A number of years ago, RTS Charlotte launched a two-year Master of Arts in Christian Counseling degree (MACC) and it has been wonderful to see how it has grown. We believe that solid, Christ-centered, biblical counseling is critical to the health of the church.
Last week we announced the hire Dr. Nate Brooks as Assistant Professor of Christian Counseling at RTS Charlotte beginning June 1, 2020. Dr. Brooks will join Dr. Jim Newheiser who is the associate professor of Christian Counseling and director of the program.
